Gaming figures have been around for a while now. Back in the 80’s they were mostly found in video arcades. Today they are much more commonplace and are used within the interactive gaming market place as well as for hand held toys. We take for granted how real and authentic many of the figures and miniatures really are. They have become so much a part of our lives that it is hard to remember a time where there weren’t any.
The original Star Wars figures were very tiny indeed. The original R2-Droid was only about two inches tall and had to be put on top of the TV to view. Today’s gaming figures, both tabletop and digital, are miniature versions of the real thing. Often a good example of this is the very popular collectible Star Wars figures.
There are so many to choose from it would take hours to list them all.

A good example of this is the original Star Wars figures. If scaled up to the correct size, the miniatures figures are about two to three inches in scale. As you would expect, if scaled up to the correct size for an action figure, the figure will be much smaller.
In fact, it is so small that some companies sell small-scale Star Wars figures as kids’ toys and markets them specifically for that reason. The original R2-Droid was just about four and a half inches in height and about the same weight as the average toy dog.
The original Star Wars figures came with either a light saber or a heavy blaster. Sometimes they included a lightsaber and an orange crate or sometimes they were sold without the weapon.
Today, most miniatures companies are able to recreate the look and feel of the original characters and use authentic materials and paints to make their figures. Some of the most sought-after figures are the ones that come with a full range of accessories. These include special effects like explosions and other effects that are impossible to achieve on a tabletop.
Some wargames are based on characters from the original trilogy of films and therefore require the players to fill out different forms and become a part of the story. This requires the player to fill out various forms like a Rebel Soldier, Storm Trooper, or a Storm Jedi Knight. Typically, miniatures companies will offer these forms and then offer them separately or in sets.
For example, you might order a Rebel Assault Figure and then also order a Lando Caligo Figure. The Assault Figure is for play on a battlefield and the Caligo Figure is to be used as a miniature character in role-playing games.
